Mommy Duty and the 100th day of school

Well Miss Olivia, the 100th day of school is on Friday which means projects!  Projects mean mommy duty.  You have to have a shirt on Friday decorated with 100 of something.  You chose ribbons.  I sat tonight and tied 100 ribbons and bows on a shirt for you.  It reminded me 100 times how much I love you.  My blisters and I are calling it a night :}

Celebrations!

Well today is birthday celebration day for daddy.  We got up this morning and started his cake.  Yummy Black Forest Cake.  This is my first time making this one but it turned out to be a crowd favorite so I think it will make its way back.

I went to the store to get stuff for our cookout.  It was a very warm and beautiful day.  I think it reached around 68 degrees.  Just what you two needed after being sick for so long!   You girls played with daddy and Dani and Lexi while I was gone and for a while when I got home and was preparing our food.  50/50 burgers?  I know sounds strange but something your Poppie saw on food network and fell in love.  Its 50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon.  Another crowd favorite I must say.  Even you girls liked them.

Our guests arrived around 5pm and after dinner we sang to daddy and ate the cake!  The best part for sure!  I feel like we are blessed to have celebrated with Mimi, Poppie, Grandmommy and Granddaddy.  Most of all I feel blessed to have Nana join us this year too.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Where's daddy?

It is daddy's birthday but actually he had to go to work for a few hours today so we were off to a birthday party for Emily, a classmate of Olivia's.  Both of you did a great job skating!

Olivia- you spent the whole time with your friends.  I shouldn't be surprised but even when I would come to talk to you or help you up when you fell, you quickly told me you were fine!

Hannah- you did so well to hold one hand and hold the side wall when you needed to feel a little extra sturdy.  You even did well to skate on your own for a while.  We weren't at the rink 10mins and you made friends with little Ella.  She was 2 1/2 but talked well and you two stuck together most of the time.

Once we got home, you were so quick to have daddy open his gifts from us.  It is after all his birthday!  We will be celebrating more tomorrow with all our family!

One of my favorite things!

Story time is one of my favorite things.  We read every night just before bed.  We all say prayers together and off to bed.  Sometimes I lay with each of you for 15-20mins to chat and keep you close!

Can I get a Dr. please?

Patiently waiting comes in many forms.
Waiting for the Dr.

and waiting...............

We did a lot of waiting today.  We needed to get your breathing checked out so we made an appointment.  11:20am, of course mommy doesn't like to be late so we will say 11:15am checkin.  By 12:00pm you were hanging out of the waiting room door waving your chart.  Very quietly, not saying a word, but saying a lot with your actions.  We finally got our room at about 12:15pm.  You were hungry and ready for a nap but you managed to entertain yourself and Monkety Monk just fine.

Fake it til you make it!

Well we have been couped up long enough!  We woke up this morning and mommy decided it was time to get the heck out of the house for the day.  You all have been sick and sluggish and blah but I knew just how to get you excited...............the "Horsey Mall!"  There is a local mall that has a carousel and a pretzel place within 50ft of each other.  Can't ask for anything better than that.  Olivia did well back to school yesterday but Hannah is still not quite there yet.  I figure if we just get out and do something it may get your blood flowing and make you feel better.

1st stop~pretzels.  Then you both spotted the jumping trampolines down the main hall so off we went.  You both opted for this over the horsey.  We were off to an exciting start.

But that didn't last long.  Before you even got your feet much off the ground Hannah you were ready to get down.  The tears came and they quickly got you down.  You said it hurt your tummy and "just about squeezed the pee out!"  Well there you have it.  All the reason you needed to get off that ride.

The nice man gave you your money back and we thought it would make you feel better if you go to ride the horsey you came to ride.

 See that happy face!

He's sick too mom!

Well this is how I left you this morning.  Woke up with a fever and a bad cough.  You were quick to tell me that your "Monkety Monk" is sick too.

This is where I found you tonight when I went to make dinner.

I found you a pillow and a blanket.  You laid there playing with your Barbies for about 1/2 an hour.
After dinner I thought you needed to get out of the house for a while after being confined for the last 2 weeks.  I offered to go for a drive.  You and sister found it most interesting and surprisingly excited to go for a drive to nowhere.

Mimi has been gracious enough to come and visit and help take care of you for the past few days but also causious not to take you to her house so not to get Poppie sick.  Well it only took a brief moment of him hearing you were out before he insisted you girls come to his house for a visit.  After all you missed his birthday on Sunday.  (although we baked him a delicious red velvet cake from scratch and you called to sing him a very froggy duet of the happy birthday song)  He was so excited to see you and it made you both feel so much better to get out of our house.  It wasn't long before we headed home.  Hannah you were quick to let us know you were ready to go home for a tub!

I guess you wore yourself out because you didn't even make it home!  Just when your sister seems to be on the mends.....you seem to have had your weariest day.  I pray for healthier days to come.

She Loves Me Not!

Well Hannah has officially broken up with me :{ Even though I can tell she is under the weather she has stayed her same silly self playing make believe and telling stories. After bath today she nicely told me daddy was the best. I knew by the look on your face this was going to be good.

Mommy: "But Hannah I am the one who cooks you dinner, gets you medicine in the middle of the night and kiss all your boo boos. What about me?"
Hannah: "Well I know I go to Starbucks with you all the time and watch tv with you all the time but its just not working out for me."
Mommy: "But Hannah I thought we were best friends?"
Hannah: "We can still be best friends but I just dont want to do it anymore."
Mommy: "Hannah it feels like you are breaking up with me. Are you breaking up with me?"
Hannah comes over, sits in my lap and puts her hand over my shoulder.
Hannah: "Listen mom, I mean I still love you but I mean its just not working for me."

Daddy enjoyed this conversation of course. He pointed out that it was just great practice for the future but I'm still slightly crushed!

Flu or no flu?

Well Friday night you went down hill fast. Your fever spiked over 104 and scared mommy pretty bad. Yesterday was ok and your fever stayed below 102. I made you pancakes, bacon and fruit for breakfast and you ate the whole thing. Then I made you a big pot of homemade chicken soup and you gobbled that up too. Everything went well til the sun went down.

Last night was horrible. Your throat hurt to even breath let alone cough or swallow. Then for some reason the roof of your mouth was burning. Seemed like everytime you would fall asleep you would start choking and then crying and getting mad because it hurt so bad you would kick your feet real hard. Sometimes you coughed so hard it made you throw up. Yuck!

Hannah, it seemed like all was well with you until 4:30am when I heard "mommmmmyyyy." There you were burning up and sounding like the croup.  After a nice warm bath and some medicine you were back to sleep next to daddy.

So we went back to the doctor today. First glimps of Olivia and they quickly began a flu test. Came back positive for Type B. Along with a bad ear infection. I am guessing the rest of your body hurt so bad you didnt notice the ear. Hannah you have a fever and you are wheezing. They said it could be the start of the flu or just a different virus. Only time will tell.  For now lots of rest and icepops!

Sick Little Trooper

So we got back to work and I set you up in my office with noodle soup and the heater on. You asked me to shut the door so it would get warm and I did. I had a quick meeting and so when I peaked in on you, there you were sleeping on the floor. I left you there knowing Mimi was just around the corner. She called and I went to pick you up and carry you out to her car and you had crawled under my desk with a box of tissues and was crying. You said you felt terrible but wanted me to have my meeting :( You tried so hard to not let on just how bad you were feeling. Such a trooper and I love you for that but next time I'll know to not even ask. We will just keep you resting at home!

Dreaded Doctor

Well Miss Olivia you have been sick for a couple days now and with the weekend starting its time to get u checked out at the doctor. She said you have a bad virus thats is giving you a terrible sore throat. You are coming back to work with mommy for an hour until Mimi is done with work then back to our house for a nap!

Sick Days :{

Well its official.....our snow days have turned into sick days. Your fever comes back like clock work as soon as the medicine wears off. Then comes the headache and sore throat. Seems like you do ok from dawn to dusk. Then when darkness sets in outside, your body gets tired and you go down hill fast.

I try my best to make you feel better with hot tea made with a little extra honey just how you like it, a soak in a nice hot bath, throat spray and cough drops, all the hugs and kisses one mommy can give and I even scratched your back and tickled your face until you drifted to sleep. I wish I could take it all away and be sick for you just to make you better. I love you sweet girl and hope you feel better soon!

Snow Days

Well we are on day 2 of no school because of the snow and ice.  I don't think you mind playing at Mimi's house and you are both excited to be off again tomorrow.  Even though we have told you it is nothing but nasty ice outside you had to check it out yourself!

We have even brought Sonny the Bunny in the garage for a few nights to keep him out of the cold.  You have really enjoyed going to check on him and taking him treats.  Last night we watched and listened to him eat his apple peel.  Of course Hannah and your 3 year old questions asked me "is he going to burp because I would like to hear him burp?"  Your big sister thought that was pretty hilarious!  He is by far the cutest bunny I have ever seen!

Happy Birthday Mimi!

Happy Birthday Mimi!  You got to spend the whole day today with Mimi celebrating her and Aunt Kathy's birthday.  You went to breakfast with them and then tonight Uncle Jun Jun cooked us a wonderful dinner.  Mommy was of course in charge of the cake.  You approved of the decorations and actually told me I did a really great job!  Nothing like compliments from your kids to make you feel good!

After dinner we cut the cake and everyone gobble it up quietly.  Everyone except Olivia who proceeded to tell us all "you know you shouldn't talk back to a 53yr old woman!"  I swear you kids say the darndest things!  I don't know if Mimi felt the same way :}

Poppies birthday is next Sunday but since their gift is a romantic night out on the town we went ahead and gave them both their gifts tonight.  I think Poppie was excited to be taking the Mimi out!

Hurry, hurry!  We rushed off giving birthday kisses because while we were at Mimi's it started snowing really hard.  We came home, took hot baths and snuggled you both in for the night!  Sleep tight girlies, mommy love you!
